Monk’s Road Bourbons & Gins

Named for the winding road that leads home to the distillery, Monk’s Road Bourbons & Gins is the heart of Log Still Distillery. From its signature Kentucky bourbons to its bright, botanical gins, each expression reflects faith, craft, and community — a nod to the journey that brought Log Still back to life.

Cold Spring Distillery

Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey

The first release of our Fifth District series pays homage to the retired Cold Spring Distillery. This historic distillery in southern Nelson County, Kentucky, was located on the property that is now Log Still Distillery. When you visit our campus, you will be able to see one of the natural springs flowing across bedrock just as it did for Cold Spring Distillery many years ago. This 6-year-old Single Barrel bourbon masterfully mixes notes of corn, rye and malted barley for a product that rekindles the spirit of yesteryear.

— Aroma —

Starts off with lively fresh-cut oak, followed by English toffee, cola spices, and sweet toasted coconut.

— Taste —

Bold spice right out of the gate, with clove, nutmeg, and allspice. This is followed closely by coconut and hints of apple, vanilla, caramel, and a firm, round mouthfeel that gives evidence of considerable maturity.

— Finish —

This whiskey closes with rye spice and warm oak tannins in concert with classic oak sweetness that lingers well past the last swallow.

F.M. Head Distillery

Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey

The Fifth District line of Monk’s Road Bourbons is a limited release series of rotating spirits that pay tribute to the historic distilleries of the fifth tax district. Our second release in the Fifth District Series pays homage to F.M. Head Distillery, which our DSP number 47 is derived from. This expression honors F.M. Head as an exceptional 8-year-old high rye bourbon finished with a secondary toasted barreling.

— Aroma —

Bold and crisp notes of cherry and vanilla with a hint of honey.

— Taste —

Smokiness of campfire compliments cherry and spice notes.

— Finish —

This high-rye bourbon has a Very smooth and creamy finish.

Barrel Finished Gin

Crafted with a unique botanical bill distinct from the Dry Gin. Wally curated spices to complement the gin’s rest in Monks Road Wheated Bourbon barrels for 6–8 months. Think baking spices: nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, coriander, and cranberries. Excellent year-round and a favorite for holiday riffs on classic bourbon cocktails.

— Aroma —
Initial cedar and toasted oak balanced with vanilla, spice, and stewed fruits. Hints of flora notes honey, citrus zest, and muted juniper.
— Taste —
Palate is rich in oak sweetness, with vanilla and warm mulling spices that push the juniper to the background. It displays a round satiny texture that is polished by the barrel aging.
— Finish —
Juniper makes another brief appearance in the finish and it fades to a touch of citrus zest and then finally ends with dry tannins and other hints of the previous life of the whiskey barrel in which it spent some time.

Dri Gin

A gin for everyone — even those who’ve sworn off juniper. While juniper remains essential, it’s soft on the nose and balanced by citrus-forward botanicals like lemon peel and watermelon rind. Perfect for fruit-driven gin smashes or bright seasonal cocktails.

— Aroma —

Bold and lively aroma that exudes lemony citrus and earthy forest notes against a background of peppercorns, juniper, and cinnamon.

— Taste —
Sweet lemon peel with complex earthiness and an abundance of spice. Juniper is present but doesn’t take center stage, instead playing a support role to bring balance to this harmonious concoction.
— Finish —
Crisp and dry on the back end that finishes with citrus peel and lingering coriander and cassia that lasts and lasts.
